How to Use the Odds Calculator

Enter your odds in your preferred format and your stake amount to calculate potential payouts, profits, and the implied probability of your bet.

Understanding Odds Formats

American Odds

Also known as "moneyline odds," American odds are shown as either positive (+) or negative (-) numbers.

  • Positive odds (+150): Amount you'd win on a $100 bet
  • Negative odds (-200): Amount you need to bet to win $100

Decimal Odds

Popular in Europe, Canada, and Australia, decimal odds represent the total return on a bet, including your stake.

For example, decimal odds of 2.50 mean a $100 bet would return $250 total ($150 profit plus your original $100 stake).

Fractional Odds

Common in the UK, fractional odds (like 5/1 or 1/2) represent the profit relative to your stake.

  • 5/1 odds: $5 profit for every $1 wagered
  • 1/2 odds: $1 profit for every $2 wagered

How Parlays Work

A parlay is a single bet that links together two or more individual wagers for a high potential payout. To win a parlay bet, all of the wagers must win or push (tie).

Parlay Benefits

  • Higher payouts: Parlays offer much higher returns than individual bets, as the odds for each selection are multiplied together
  • Lower risk amount: You can wager a smaller amount for a higher potential return

Parlay Risks

  • Higher difficulty: All selections must win for the parlay to pay out
  • One loss voids the bet: If any selection loses, the entire parlay loses

Calculating Parlay Odds

To calculate parlay odds:

  1. Convert all odds to decimal format
  2. Multiply all decimal odds together
  3. Subtract 1 to get the parlay payout odds
  4. Convert back to your preferred odds format

Parlay Betting Tips

  • Keep parlays to a reasonable number of legs (2-4) to maintain realistic winning chances
  • Compare parlay odds at different sportsbooks to find the best value
  • Consider including "safe" bets along with riskier picks to balance your parlay
  • Avoid making parlays with correlated outcomes, as most sportsbooks won't allow these
